PRESS RELEASE
The Stewards, Royal Calcutta Turf Club are pleased to announce the commencement of the Calcutta Cold Weather Season 2025-2026 from Thursday, 23rd October, 2025.
The Meeting will comprise of 30 race days and will conclude on 1st April, 2026. There are 183 races including 64 Cup races, scheduled to be run during these 5 months.
The Club presently has 271 horses in station which includes 37 two-year-olds. A further number of horses are expected to arrive in station during the Season with ‘B’ licensed Trainers.
13 Trainers and 15 Jockeys have been issued ‘A licenses and at the moment there are 34 ‘B’ licenses Jockeys and 2 apprentices who will be seen in action.
The important races scheduled to be run during the season are as under:-
The Mayfowl Cup - 14th November, 2025
The Calcutta 1000 Guineas (Grade III) - 29th November, 2025.
The Calcutta 2000 Guineas (Grade II) - 6th December, 2025.
The Calcutta Gold Cup - 13th December, 2025.
The Calcutta Oaks - 20th December, 2025.
The RCTC Gold Vase - 1st January, 2026.
The Indian Produce Stakes - 1st January, 2026.
The Calcutta Derby Stakes (Grade I) - 11th January, 2026.
The Alokananda Stakes - 11th January, 2026.
The Calcutta Champions’ Sprint Trophy (Grade III) - 17th January, 2026.
The Indian Champion Cup (Grade I) - 23rd January, 2026
The Indian Champagne Stakes (Grade III) - 30th January, 2026.
The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Cup (Grade III) - 7th February, 2026.
The Calcutta Million (Grade III) - 14th February, 2026.
The Calcutta St. Leger - 25th February, 2026.
The Indian Gold Vase - 11th March, 2026
The Grand Annual Mile - 11th March, 2026.
PRIZES
The advertised stake money for the Season is Rs. 11.9 Cr. A further sum of Rs. 17.75 lakhs is the value of Cups and Trophies.
The Stewards are pleased to announce that for stakes earned by horses under the charge of ‘A’ licensed Trainers, bonus stakes of 25% will be given for all Non-sweepstakes Handicap and Juvenile races. Trainers and Jockeys will also be eligible for their respective shares in the above bonus.
We are also pleased to announce that the winner’s prize for ordinary juvenile races will be Rs. 8,15,000/- which should attract owners to bring in their juveniles to ‘A’ licensed Trainers.

We do hope our efforts will result in a happy, competitive and successful racing season and we are confident that the Turf Club will continue to be a destination for all those seeking entertainment at the Race Course.
